World Fish Migration Day 2016 Bangladesh

The World Fish Migration Day (WFMD) is a one day global-local event to create worldwide awareness on the importance of open rivers and migratory fish. World Fish Migration Day 2016 Bangladesh will be held in Jagannath University, Dhaka and more student, teacher will be percipient with quiz, speech, rally, fish exhibition, art competition.

Common Jay of Bangladesh

Graphium doson axion (Felder & Felder 1864) also called Common Jay is a butterfly from Australasia / Indomalaya ecozone (Australia). The first description was in 1864 by C. & R. Felder. The wingspan is about 7 – 8 cm. This butterfly is a member of the family PAPILIONIDAE. The basic colour of Graphium doson is black. Greenish spots dominate the wings. The underside is very similar to the upside. But, there are some additional red spots. The body (abdomen) is black. The thorax and the head are also black.The underside of all parts is white or yellowish.

Wing span : Male and Female 70 to 80 mm.
Flight pattern : Slow even flight
Habitat : Damp forested areas
Distribution: JnU Botanical garden, JU Campus, Lawachara NP, Bandarban, Ramakri
Larval food plants: not available, possibly same as G. sarpedon.
Status: Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.
